Yes, Motorcycle Chariot Racing existed and yes, it needs to make a comeback
If you think that by 2014 we have had discovered every extreme sport there is, think again. One high energy sport that adrenaline junkies would surely enjoy has been lost to the mists of antiquity, until now.
That sport is called Motorcycle Chariot Racing. It’s just like the good old chariot racing that the ancient Romans used to do but instead of horses, one or two motorcycles are attached to the chariot.
The sport started around the 1920s and got popular in mid-‘30s. It was, without question, the most awesome sport of those times.
The first setup involved a single motorcycle driven by a rider. In later setups, more motorcycles were used and the drivers were no longer involved. Instead, the motorcycles were controlled by the chariot rider himself using leather reins attached to the throttles. There are numerous versions of this old sport and unfortunately there is not much information available.
Today, there are a few people who try to keep this old tradition alive. And we can’t wait for this amazing sport to be popular again.
